In line with our dedication to web standards, we have ensured our shiny new website meets the requirements set by the internet’s governing body, W3C.
This site is 100% XHTML 1.0 and CSS compliant.
Why is this important?
You need to know that we understand what we’re doing. You will want your own web site to meet web standards, and aside from anything else this is a demonstration of our high standards and capabilities. For information on why web standards matter, please have a look at this great article:

As some of you may remember; before the site change we were hosting the wonderful Alpine Image Converter created by Josh Comley. Josh has moved on from working under the Riot Creative umbrella and so the converter has been moved too as this was one of his personally developed tools. Don’t worry, he still develops things for us when needed and you can find this super bit of software here:
http://josh1.com/Projects/AlpineImageConverter/
Josh is currently developing more software and services which you will be able to find out all about by reading his blogs:
www.josh1.com for work related things and
www.josh0.com for fun things!
One of the very useful sites he has put together is called
www.imgbag.com which provides a really easy way to edit your images without doing much more than typing in a few words into the image link – it’s brilliant!
Josh has been a great part of our team past, present and hopefully future and we wish him all the best with his amazing projects – keep ‘em coming Josh!

Riot's News,
Web Development
You may be wondering what all the fuss is about – the site looks pretty much the same as it did before, doesn’t it?
Yes – that was the idea!
Since the social networking era began there have been numerous places to vent your thoughts and feelings, be it on
Twitter,
Facebook,
MySpace etc. or any number of the blogging sites out there. For those of you who have heard of
WordPress you will know that there are two ways to go about using their services: you can blog from their site by opening an account or you can host it yourself from a server.
I began using WordPress originally because a client was already using it and I needed to figure it out so I could help them with their blogs. I decided the best way to see how it functioned was to start a personal blog of my own
www.victoriaboarer.com – then things got interesting.
I started doing some research into how the WordPress blogs work deep down from both a development and design point of view. I wanted to see how far you could take it by messing about with the code underneath. From what I had learnt you could in fact create an entire website using WordPress which would look and feel just like a normal website but with it have all these additional free features in the form of plugins and widgets. The core WordPress functionality along with it’s plugins and widgets are being updated almost daily by brains all over the world and so nothing gets old. In fact there is very little that isn’t available through the WordPress plugins and widgets so you can see how valuable this is to clients who need a fully functioning website without a fully loaded price tag!
After using WordPress for my personal blog I decided that to really put it to the test I would need to re-create an existing website using it’s functionality along with the pre-existing designs to see if it could be pulled off without there being a noticeable difference – unless it is a positive one! So what better way to exhibit the joys of WordPress than to use it for the Riot Creative website!
Has it achieved it’s goal? Does this site work the way you would want yours to? – Let us know what you think below.
We are now offering this new service so you too can have a WordPress powered website which can be updated at a click of a finger. To read more about this service please view our
services page and for prices visit our
pricing page.
